Thabo Senong’s Amajita lost 2-1 to Guinea in the third-place play-off on the weekend after being knocked out in the semi-finals by the eventual winners, Zambia, however it was already mission accomplished to some extent after they qualified for the U20 World Cup by finishing second in their group.
Now, with the tournament wrapped up, South African starlet, Luther Singh, was confirmed as the competition’s top scorer after scoring four goals and bagging himself two assists.
Singh was level with Edward Chilufya and Patson Daka in terms of goals scored, but he walked away with the award thanks to the goals that he created.
The 19-year-old Braga attacker was the only South African to make the ‘Best XI’, although two of his teammates, Liam Jordan and Grant Margeman, did make the bench for their efforts in the competition.
South Africa also walked away with the Fair Play award.
