Bafana Bafana head coach, Shakes Mashaba, lamented his players' lack of composure in the box during their draw with Mauritania.
Bafana ended their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with a 1-1 draw against 10-man Mauritania.
Thamsanqa Gabuza also missed out a penalty, as Mashaba's charges finished the campaign in third spot.
"To make it worse we missed a penalty, which should have taken us home cut and dry," Mashaba said after the game.
"But I think the boys did very well, we were all over this team, we went on again to conceded a silly goal. The goal they score, the man runs all the way up from halfway to finishing up.
"They scored a goal like this in Mauritania and we had discussed and planned about these things, but performance wise, they were not a side to play us.
"We needed one or two players with composure in the box, control the ball, look at the target, push it to the corner and that's finished."
