Each national team coach and team captain has the opportunity to cast three votes for the Ballon d'or award, the first award is worth five points, the second worth three, while the third vote counts for one point.
The Doncaster Rovers midfielder was the captain of the national side when the votes had to made, Furman went for Ronaldo as his first choice, with Lionel Messi and Philipp Lahm his second and third choice respectively.
Furman also chose Germany coach, Joachim Low, for the Coach of the Year, with Pep Guardiola and Diego Simeone his second and third choice respectively.
The Bafana head coach opted for Messi with his first vote, Manuel Neuer as his second vote, while Juventus midfielder, Paul Pogba, was Mashaba's third vote.
Mashaba's vote for Coach of the Year went to Germany's Joachim Low, followed by Diego Simeone and Pep Guardiola.
Furman's wish came true, as Ronaldo picked up the award on the night in Zurich, with Messi and Neuer finishing second and third respectively.
