Shakes: I Don't Have Time For Issues With Players
Following the recalling of Thulani Serero, Kamohelo Mokotjo, Ayanda Patosi and May Mahlangu back into the Bafana Bafana fold ahead of the friendlies against Swaziland and Nigeria, Shakes Mashaba declared to members of the media that he had no personal issues with any of those players.
The quartet were surprisingly excluded from Mashaba’s final AFCON squad announced late last year for their “unpatriotic” behaviour, whilst Mahlangu was issued with an indefinite ban by the South African Football Association.
However during a media briefing to announce Nigeria as Bafana’s opponents for the March 29th friendly, SAFA president Dr Danny Jordaan revealed that the four players would be engaged by the FA and be considered for future international games.
Earlier today during the squad announcement at SAFA’s headquarters, the Bafana mentor revealed that he had no personal issues nor the time to squabble with players following the exchange he previously had with Mokotjo regarding his weight and fitness.
“I’m a father and parent, I want the media to know I don’t have time to have a tiff with players,” stated Mashaba.
“My job is to coach the team. If a player does not respond then it’s finished,” added the Bafana mentor.
It remains to be seen whether Mahlangu will link up with the squad following his recent injury for Turkish side Konyaspor.
