The recent success by Bafana Bafana in a Four Nations tournament staged in Zambia has further galvanised the South African Football Association (SAFA) to line-up strong opposition for the senior national team.
Bafana emerged as victors after beating hosts Zambia 2-0 in the final of the Four Nations tournament. Sources close to SAFA have now confirmed that a top European nation is touted to be Bafana’s next opponent.
“SAFA is looking at finalising a top European nation to play Bafana following their success in Zambia. Though no names have been confirmed it is understood that the likes of Sweden and the Czech Republic have been mentioned,” revealed the source.
“Coach Stuart Baxter is eager to give younger players an opportunity at playing against European opposition,” added the source.
Meanwhile, as previously reported by the crew, the 2019 African Cup of Nations host country, Cameroon, is one of the possible opponents for Bafana in the upcoming months.
The crew will continue to closely monitor the situation.
