The South African Football Association has confirmed that they are set to issue a statement to challenge’s FIFA’s ruling of a replay between Bafana Bafana and Senegal.

FIFA stated that there should be a replay of Bafana’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Senegal which took place last year, November 12 in South Africa.

However, SAFA confirmed on their official website that they have intentions of challenging the decision. SAFA’s statement read, “SAFA can confirm that we received a report from FIFA stating that we should replay our FIFA World Cup match against Senegal that was played last year on 12 November 2016 in Polokwane which South Africa won 2-1.”

“According to FIFA, this decision follows the confirmation of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to uphold the lifetime ban of match referee, Joseph Lamptey, for match manipulation, the ruling imposed by the FIFA Disciplinary and Appeal Committees. In their letter, FIFA further suggests that the match will be replayed within the November 2017 international window, with the exact date to be confirmed in due course.”

“SAFA is studying the contents of the report and will issue a statement on intentions to challenge that decision.”

“SAFA wishes to also state categorically that it was in no way involved with any wrongdoing related to the actions of the referee, as stated in the FIFA report.”

“In the meantime, all issues related to this matter will be handled by Senior Counsel, Mr Norman Arendse.”

THAT WAS NOT FIFA DECISION. IT WAS A RECOMMENDATION FROM THEIR DESCIPLINARY COMMITTEE. FIFA EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MUST STILL DECIDE ON IT NEXT WEEK.

If the game is going to be replayed,it means FIFA and their refree are going to pay all the match cost, and the entrance will be free on that day, because we already paid to the game game, which according to them it was unfair game.Even the time we have wasted watching unfair game because of your unprofessional degrees and linemen.please FIFA! don't consider the interest of Senegal National team only, but every one who was in the stadium on that day.If you disconsider us, it means is our punishment to be in the stadium that day.

It doesn't rain, it pours for Bafana Bafana! Let SAFA do an introspection and check Where did it went wrong? The rot starts from the Offices up to the BB Technical staff whom are not strategic, patriotic, efficient and proactive in taking the country forward. Gentlemen, we are a laughing stock?

I don't support this decision by FIFA not bcos I'm a south African, first they must prove any wrong doing on our part secondly it was human error even the linesman could not see, I just hope there will be more replays if this happens in future i mean in europe, so i support safa in challenging this decision its pure madness to order a replay bcos of refree's mistake not bcos we bribed the official

For everyone's intention, this is the second refree to be banned for life after cheating on behalf of South Africa. The first one was a Ugandan Referee Charles Masembe who extended the match forever until South Africa scored in the 119th minute of a normal play. So its a precedent, a dangerous path at that.

Remember when Pizza was still a coach for Bafazi Bafazi and celebrated like unonkala thinking that he qualify died for AFCON? What did SAFA upon learning that they did not qualify fy? They issued a statement and threatened to take CAF to arbitrary court. Only for them (SAFA) to eat a humble pie once CAF made them fools and educate them on the rules! Same thing will happen here!
