SAFA Explain Summoning Baxter And His Technical Team
The South African Football Association explained why Bafana Bafana Head Coach Stuart Baxter and his technical team were summoned before the association's technical committee.
Bafana arrived yesterday from Dakar in Senegal following an unsuccessful 2018 World Cup qualification campaign, losing both at home and away to Senegal in the final two group fixtures.
Though reports have surfaced indicating that Baxter and the Bafana technical team have been summoned to answer for the woeful qualification campaign, SAFA's head of Communications, Dominic Chimhavi, informed Soccer Laduma that the meeting will be of a positive and productive nature.
"Firstly I want to clarify that this meeting is merely a protocol meeting," said Chimhavi.
"After every major tournament or in this case after a qualification round the coach and his technical team always meet with the technical committee to discuss the team's performance and how we can improve technically moving forward.
"The coach understands why he's meeting with the committee and among the things that will be discussed will be his technical report of Bafana's qualification campaign since he has been in charge of the National team," added Chimhavi.
SAFA indicated that Baxter will remain as the Head Coach of the national team following their failure to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, as getting the squad to the World Cup finals was never his mandate after taking over from Shakes Mashaba 7 months ago.
