Mané Leaves Senegal, Won't Face Bafana
Liverpool striker, Sadio Mané, won’t be facing Bafana Bafana tomorrow night having been released back to his club due to an injury following Senegal’s World Cup qualification.
The 25-year-old grabbed two assists as the Lions of Teranga saw off South Africa on Friday to secure a spot in Russia, meaning that this week’s clash is nothing but a dead rubber for the two nations involved.
Mané travelled to Polokwane with a member of Liverpool's physiotherapy department as the English Premier League side looked to keep an eye on his hamstring injury, and an agreement has been reached between club and country that will make sure he isn’t risked further in Dakar.
A statement from the Senegal Football Federation on Sunday read, "Following the match, South Africa against Senegal Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, in Polokwane, the player Sadio Mane slightly felt his old injury.
"After consultations between the medical staff of the national team of Senegal and Liverpool, it was decided by mutual agreement to make him available to his club to continue treatment until full recovery.''
Bafana landed in Senegal on Sunday and are currently preparing for the game as Stuart Baxter looks to make some changes in order to give some of those who didn’t play on Friday, a run.
