Report: Bafana v Senegal To Be Replayed

By Soccer Laduma - Sep 06, 2017 08:00 PM

According to a report, Bafana Bafana's second Group D match against Senegal will be replayed in November.

Bafana, who were under Shakes Mashaba at the time, defeated Senegal 2-1 on match day two in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

However, the Senegalese Football Federation reported referee Joseph Lamptey to CAF and FIFA, as they felt his decisions in the side's 2-1 loss to Bafana were malicious and biased.

Lamptey was then subsequently suspended banned for life by FIFA for "match manipulation".

According to SudOnLine.com, the encounter will be replayed in November before the return leg, following a decision with FIFA.

This is a landmark decision by FIFA or whoever recommended it. The penalty awarded to Bafana Bafana was more than the word dubious. A replay is a rather fair decision. It must be recorded that Senegal formally complained hence the investigation that led to this. An investigation can reverse the outcome of the game like in this case.

What happened to the referees decision is final. South Africa has got nothing to do with the ref being biased. The banned the ref for life and it's got nothing to do with us...bayanya.

glad to hear that THAT WAS NOT FIFA DECISION. IT WAS A RECOMMENDATION FROM THEIR DESCIPLINARY COMMITTEE. FIFA EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MUST STILL DECIDE ON IT NEXT WEEK.

What this actually means is that we only have one point. It just rubs salt on how Baxter and his trusted lieutenants have failed this country in the last two matches. Cape Verde was supposed to be the whipping team in the group. I'm more disappointed than ever before.

I think SAFA is really failing this country. Is this setting a precedent? Many of SA teams have suffered great injustices in North West Africa in particular and despite complaints no decision like this was ever taken. SAFA needs to put the interest of this country first. They must fight for the rights of the football fraternity of this country and not use their positions as a sweet way to get into CAF and FIFA positions. Shame on you Jordan. Imagine this happening under the leadership of Khoza!
