Kaizer Chiefs’ Ramahlwe Mphahlele has revealed what Bafana Bafana’s secret weapon is as they face Nigeria…
Mphahlele, who is expected to start at right back this weekend, was provider for one of South Africa’s two goals in the shock 2-0 victory over the Super Eagles last year, and thinks that their strength this time around will come from the bond that the players have created between them.
Speaking to Chiefs’ official website, ‘Rama’ gave his thoughts on the upcoming African Cup of Nations qualifier, saying, “We have a very strong bond in the changing room. With some new players coming into the squad, finding such a welcoming camp, it makes it easier to gel into a winning team.
“This is a must-win, but we must play our normal game according to the plan that the coach will give us to master and apply on the day. That we have beaten them before will not count.”
The former Mamelodi Sundowns man knows it won’t be easy though, going on to say, “Nigeria are always a hard nut to crack, they have good players with experience. It is good that we are playing in front of our supporters. The mood in the camp is positive and all that is left is to execute our plans. We are not looking at the log, our focus is on a win every time we play.”
Stuart Baxter’s side host Nigeria at FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon knowing that three points will see them qualify for the 2019 AFCON.
