It’s simply just a wish at this point, but it’s understood Carlos Queiroz is being eyed as a potential Bafana Bafana coach.

As reported in this week’s edition of Soccer Laduma, the ex-Real Madrid manager is SAFA’s first-choice candidate to take charge of the national team and informal talks behind the scenes have already been held.
Indications are that Queiroz is keen on the job he’s held before between 2000 and 2002, successfully guiding Bafana to the Korea/Japan World Cup, though he quit abruptly on the eve of the tournament following an apparent disagreement with his bosses.
But his name is not the only one that’s been bandied about (scroll through the gallery to see more).
Reports earlier this week suggested Herve Renard and Hugo Broos have also put their hand up and want the plum job – vacated by Molefi Ntseki late last month.
Ntseki failed to qualify Bafana to the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon next year after his side lost 2-0 away against Sudan when all they needed was a draw.
Pitso Mosimane is also reportedly the SAFA technical committee’s choice, but the fact is the decision will rest with the national executive committee when a shortlist is presented and a verdict is taken on who should succeed Ntseki.
According to sources, Mosimane is not keen on returning to the Bafana hot seat and prefers to focus on his project with Al Ahly – but stranger things have happened.

The technical committee met for the first time this past Wednesday to discuss candidates and will reconvene again next week.
But Siya sources have indicated that Queiroz could very well be the SAFA NEC’s pick if they can afford to lure such a high profile name back to Mzansi.
The 68-year-old is available immediately after he was sacked by Colombia in December due to a string of poor results in their 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
