A Bafana Bafana legend has now officially joined the same stable as Pitso Mosimane, the agency confirmed on social media.
In a brief statement on Twitter, it was revealed that Helman Mkhalele was now part of the MT Sports Marketing and Management “family”, the same stable Mosimane is under and is also run by his wife, Moira Tlhagale.
Mkhalele was last month announced as one of two assistants to Bafana coach Hugo Broos and in fact took charge of the national team’s 3-2 win over Uganda last week as the only member of the technical staff in the dugout.
With Broos out of the country and first assistant Cedomir Janevski testing positive for Covid-19, it was left to the man nicknamed ‘The Midnight Express’ during his playing days to lead the new-look Bafana outfit.
Mkhalele won the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations with SA as a player.
“Thank you for paying us a visit Coach Helman. It’s so great to have you as part of our family. Congratulations on the win last week! Wishing you, Coach Broos and the technical team all the best,” the agency said on the post.
Tlhagale, through MT Sports, secured a lucrative contract for Mosimane a year ago at Mamelodi Sundowns worth R1.5-million a month, but the coach later quit to take up what’s believed to be a much more attractive offer from Al Ahly in October last year.
