The head coach of the South African national team, Ephraim ‘Shakes’ Mashaba, has added six new players to his squad, in preparation of the game against Nigeria later this month.
Daniel Cardoso, Thapelo Morena, Lebohang Phiri, Cole Alexander, Thabo Mnyamane and Siphelele Ntshangase have all been handed their first call ups to Bafana.
Mashaba announced his squad at SAFA House in Johannesburg this afternoon.
Bafana are preparing for friendly games against Swaziland and Nigeria respectively. Bafana are scheduled to play against Swaziland in Mbabane on March 25, before returning to South Africa for the game against Nigeria at Mbombela Stadium on March 29.
The fixture against Swaziland will be Bafana’s first game, since the team’s elimination from the AFCON, against Ghana in January.
Some of the experienced players, including Itumeleng Khune, Sibusiso Khumalo, Jabulani Shongwe, May Mahlangu, Thulani Serero, Ayanda Patosi and Lehlohonolo Majoro are returning to Bafana, after missing the AFCON in Equatorial Guinea earlier this year.
