Paulse Comments On Nigeria Coach Calling Bafana Lucky
Nathan Paulse Has Responded To Genort Rohr's Claims Of Bafana Bafana Being Lucky
Former Ajax Cape Town striker, Nathan Paulse has commented on the Nigerian national team’s head coach’s comments about Bafana Bafana being lucky.
The South African national team secured a 2-0 win over Nigeria in the Africa Cup Of Nations qualifiers in June last year, the country’s first win over the Super Eagles.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Soccer Laduma, the Nigeria head coach, Gernot Rohr called Bafana lucky for being able to beat his side, saying that Nigeria had most of the possession on the day.
“I did regret the defeat, but I think South Africa were very lucky. We had more possession. We had the better chances. South Africa scored with only their second shot – that was quite fortunate. Perhaps they celebrated the victory too much, because they hardly won any other game after- wards. One always has to remain modest even in victory,” Rohr exclusively told Soccer Laduma.
However, Paulse does not agree with the Nigeria head coach and has said that South Africa were just the better side on the day.
“First of all, I don’t believe in luck, there is no such thing as luck when it comes to football, because when the opportunity came the boys were on form, regardless which team the Nigerians put out, there is no such thing as luck, because on the day South Africa were just better than them,” Paulse told the Siya crew.
