Mnguni: Give McCarthy Or Tinkler A Chance

Former Bafana Bafana midfielder Bennet Mnguni believes that not having successful former players in the South African Football Association leadership keeps destroying national teams.

Mnguni feels the lack of involvement from legends such as Benni McCarthy, Eric Tinkler, Lucas Radebe and others, hasn't benefitted football on the field.

"You know we've been saying, what is happening at SAFA it not good for our football, things are getting worse every year because we are led by men who never played in professional level," Mnguni tells siya crew

"Players go to Europe for years and come back unable to give back to the country, (they) can't be used to help the national team, we have people who are handling things there but they didn't play football, they don't know player's needs."

Mnguni says there are many former players who can take Bafana Bafana to where it belongs.

"It shows by appointing Molefi Ntseki... are we that bad to even consider someone like Ntseki? Are we that really bad? I don't have anything against Ntseki but we must be realistic.

"That shows we have people who are clueless about the needs of our football, they don't know what they are doing because they didnt play professional football. We must give people who has played the game at top level. We have the likes of Benni McCarthy, Eric Tinkler and others who can help us, but do we believe in them? No we don't."

With Ntseki out, according to Mnguni, SAFA must bring in former players such as Benni McCarthy or Eric Tinkler to coach the national team, give them whatever they need because clearly their plans have backfired.

"Whoever raised the hand to give him the job, go for Benni McCarthy or Eric Tinkler, they are proven winners. We must forget about foreign coaches because they've failed and we must also stop coming up with temporary plans, let's do the right things before it's too late."
