Former Bafana Bafana midfielder Linda Buthelezi praised both the players and coach following South Africa’s 1-0 win over Costa Rica in an international friendly in the early hours of this morning.
The national team faced a gruelling journey to Central America as well as little time to adjust to the climate, but put on a solid performance to secure victory.
Andile Jali scored the decisive goal in the encounter, but Buthelezi believes that the players showed great character and executed a good game plan.
"I think the team showed character in that game against Costa Rica. I think the coach had a great plan for the game and the players executed it very well,” he told Soccer Laduma.
“They could have even scored more which is a good sign for the team going ahead in important games," the former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder concluded.
