Lebogang Manyama: We Are In Trouble, But…
Bafana Bafana international, Lebogang Manyama, has admitted that the South African national team is in trouble but is confident that something could work for them on Saturday.
Head Coach Stuart Baxter’s side will host Burkina Faso at the FNB Stadium on Saturday, October 07, in a must-win 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying encounter.
The South African national team have suffered back-to-back losses to Cape Verde, with FIFA also ordering a replay of the country’s previous qualifying encounter against Senegal, leaving Bafana at the bottom of Group D with one point.
In order for Bafana to qualify for the prestigious competition set to take place in Russia next year, Head Coach Baxter’s side will have to win all three of their upcoming qualifying fixtures and hope that top of the log, Cape Verde, drop at least three points.
Speaking to SAFA’s official website, Bafana midfielder, Manyama has since opened up about the national team’s situation by saying, “To be quite honest we are in trouble. We put ourselves in there and we are the only ones who can take ourselves out. It’s up to us to get a good result on Saturday before we can think of anything else. We know it’s not going to be easy, but I think we have a lot of quality in the side. It’s a matter of doing what the coach wants – it has worked before so why can’t it work on Saturday.”
