Star Midfielder Talks Of Bafana Pride
Kamohelo Mokotjo says that he knew his Bafana Bafana chance would come if he kept performing at club level, with the midfield man set to feature v Libya this afternoon.
The 27-year-old Brentford man has gone from strength to strength in recent years as he climbed up the footballing ladder from PEC Zwolle to FC Twente and now the Bees in the English Championship, and he will be hoping to help Bafana take a step towards the 2019 African Cup of Nations.
Mokotjo’s international future was in doubt not so long ago with him and Shakes Mashaba not seeing eye to eye, however things are looking up for him at national level under Stuart Baxter, with the Englishman seeing the midfielder’s talent.
Now, with a crucial clash with Libya on the horizon, the SuperSport United graduate thinks that South African players need to maintain their focus at Moses Mabhida Stadium this afternoon.
He told SAFA this week, “I just think we need to focus on what we can do best, I think that’s the secret really. It’s nothing special.
"For me‚ firstly‚ it's just an honour to get called up. And then I knew that the game time would come as long as I was doing well for my club.
"I just take it one step at a time‚ regardless of what anyone says. It's just important that I focus on myself‚ and take my time with my craft.”
Bafana face Libya at 15h00 this afternoon.
