The South African national team come up against the Libyans at Moses Mabhida Stadium this weekend as they look for their second win of the African Cup of Nations qualifiers, knowing that victory will take them to the top of Group E.
Mokotjo, who looks likely to start in the centre of Stuart Baxter’s midfield, believes that it’s an important game for Bafana, stressing the fact that he’s focused on getting a result for the nation.
The Brentford midfielder, who recently captained his team in England, told the media, “It’s a very important game, it’s a qualifier, so we need to get the maximum result. It’s a good thing that we’re playing at home, and I think all the boys are in a positive mood for the game coming up.
“I think it’s become a lot easier when I come to the national team…We have a lot of players who are accustomed to the style of play that I play, so when I’m here I solely focus on what we’re doing.
“Games are won everywhere. Everyone is responsible for their task on the pitch… The players who are here need to step up, it’s as simple as that.”
Bafana played AmaZulu in a friendly game yesterday, winning 2-0 thanks to goals from Bradley Grobler and Vincent Pule.
