Ntseki On Visiting Chiefs, Pirates & More…

Molefi Ntseki has explained why it’s important for him to visit the likes of Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, and also said why he does/doesn’t pick players for Bafana Bafana.

Ntseki named his first Bafana squad of 2020 yesterday as they prepare for two upcoming 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, and there were plenty of shocks in there as players such as Itumeleng Khune, George Maluleka and Thabo Matlaba received recalls after lengthy periods away from the national team.

Meanwhile, he has also been travelling around the country visiting various clubs to keep track of what’s going on in Mzansi’s football landscape, profiling some of the players.

It has been explained that the national team coach has already visited Bloemfontein Celtic, Highlands Park, Golden Arrows, Amazulu, Polokwane City, Black Leopards, Baroka, Chiefs and Pirates, and he is visiting Mamelodi Sundowns today as he continues to keep in contact with the club.

Speaking about his work around the country, Ntseki told, “The past few weeks have been spent very wisely. I have visited most of the teams in the PSL, watching games on location and on television, profiling some of the players that you see in the squad today. I can safely say now that there are three to four players in every position for Bafana Bafana, which is a healthy option for any national team coach.

“So when I pick a player it’s because I have seen them over a period of time, and on the other hand, when I don’t pick a player it is because I have reason not to. And I must say thank you to all the teams, especially the coaches, as they all made me feel very welcome. They also assisted me by giving me the information that I could not have. These visitations will continue as we look to make a strong and passionate Bafana Bafana that the country can be proud of.”
