There were visible signs of jubilation for Sudan as they qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in nine years thanks to a convincing victory over Bafana Bafana.
The odds were heavily stacked against the lower ranked Jedi Falcons who had to ensure that Molefi Ntseki's men do not get a positive result at the Al Hilal Stadium on Sunday evening.
But, Sudan who are ranked 127th in the world and 34th in Africa, pulled off a smash and grab, beating the visitors 2-0 who were odds on favourites to win the tie.
Goals from Malik Bakhit and Abdelrahman Yousif was enough to pile misery on Bafana Bafana who looked sluggish on the night and were bundled out of the competition.
Sudan’s victory saw them finish second, while Bafana failed to qualify in third place.
There were raucous celebrations from the 1000 Sudanese fans who were allowed into the stadium after the match, as they invaded the pitch to celebrate the historic victory with their players and technical staff.
Meanwhile for Bafana Bafana, this is the fifth time that they fail to qualify for the continental showpiece after missing out on the 1994, 2010, 2012 and 2017 editions.
