Jele: It’s The Only Way To Earn A Ticket To Bafana
Happy Jele inspired by teammates Innocent Maela and Thembinkosi Lorch
Orlando Pirates veteran defender Happy Jele has lauded his teammates Innocent Maela and Thembinkosi Lorch for their showing in national colours in the Four Nations tournament Zambia.
Both Maela and Lorch were called up in what was a very youthful Bafana side to face Angola, Zimbabwe and Zambia with the South African eventually emerging as winners of the tournament after beating the hosts 2-0 in the in the final.
Speaking to Soccer Laduma Jele said he was both proud and happy for his teammates and advised both youngsters to remain focused on their club careers and this was their ticket to the national team.
“As a senior player to see two of the younger players doing well at club level and earning their Bafana call-ups is a proud moment,” said the veteran defender.
“I want to encourage both Innocent and Theminkosi to continue putting in the hard work at club level as that is the only way to earn a ticket to Bafana.
“I was overjoyed when they received their call-ups. I know they played well and represented themselves, their families and the club well in Zambia. Playing for the national team is a very significant milestone for a professional player and I wish them both and other Bucs youngsters a long future with Bafana,” added Jele.
Both Maela and Lorch will look at further entrenching themselves in the Bucs team as they aim to help their side challenge for league honours when they welcome Bloemfontein Celtic early next month.
