Bafana Blow As Striker Leaves Camp

After the shock defeat to Madagascar on Sunday afternoon, Bafana Bafana have been dealt another blow after Gift Motupa left camp after the match.
The 23-year-old forward started for Stuart Baxter’s side in Polokwane in the COSAFA Cup quarter-final yesterday, however, was largely ineffective as the team missed a host of chances before losing via a penalty shootout following misses from Jamie Webber and Luther Singh.
Now, as South Africa head into tomorrow’s plate semi-final with Namibia, the Siya crew has been informed that Motupa will not be playing any part in the game after a family bereavement led to him making an early exit from camp.
This news follows the decision to release Orlando Pirates’ Innocent Maela from camp due to an injury, with Bafana confirming that Paseka Mako had been called up as his replacement.
It remains at this point whether Baxter is able to call up a replacement for Chippa United's new attacker, although he is expected to make plenty of changes as they face their neighbours in tomorrow’s clash.
