Edward Motale believes Gavin Hunt would be the right man to take over the Bafana Bafana hotseat if Shakes Mashaba is relieved of his duties.
Mashaba has faced a myriad of criticism following his unsuccessful AFCON qualifying campaign, and a friendly win over Egypt in the Nelson Mandela challenge has not stifled speculation that the 66-year-old could face the sack.
When asked who he thinks should be the next in line for the job, the man affectionately known as “Magents” stated that the current Bidvest Wits coach would be the ideal candidate.
“I think maybe that Gavin Hunt could be the best candidate (for the Bafana job), because he’s more familiar with our culture, the 4-4-2 type of play, which is what Bafana’s playing,” he told Soccer Laduma. “Between him and Pitso (Mosimane), they’ve been doing well so far and they’ve been consistent.”

Gavin Hunt is one of the three frontrunners to replace Shakes Mashaba should he lose his position as Bafana head coach, along with Muhsin Ertugral and Ruud Krol.
