Bafana Advance To COSAFA Cup Plate Final

COSAFA Cup Plate Semi-Final

Result: Namibia 1-4 Bafana Bafana

Date: 05 June 2018

Venue:  Old Peter Mokaba Stadium

Bafana Bafana advanced to the COSAFA Cup plate final after thumping Namibia 4-1 at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Stuart Baxter's men started brightly, with Lebogang Maboe forcing Mbaeva into a fine save inside opening the five minutes,

Bafana eventually broke the deadlock on 25 minutes when Aubrey Modiba converted a penalty following hand-ball in the area.

Three minutes later, the lead was doubled as Maboe got beyond the Namibian defence before slotting past Mbaeva.

Namibia did pull a goal back in the 39th minute as Bloemfontein Celtic's Deon Hotto volleyed home into the bottom corner.

However, Maboe bagged his second and Bafana's third a minute later with a close-range finish that deflected home.

Siyanda Xulu got the fourth goal for Bafana eight minutes into the second stanza with a simple tap-in at the far post, 4-1.

The Brave Warriors could not combine going forward and were often let down by their decision-making in the final third.

Gift Links almost netted a cracker for Bafana with a left-footed strike from range 20 minutes before time but his effort sailed slightly wide of the upright.

Bafana had a couple half chances to get a fifth goal in the closing minutes but Mbaeva was alert and thwarted the chances as the encounter ended 4-1.

Here's how they lined up:
