It was a Bayern Munich-heavy selection from Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki when it came to his picks for the FIFA Men’s best awards.
Taking time out from his grueling schedule as Bafana coach, Ntseki gave his input on some of the world’s best players and coaches over the last season.
There were some interesting choices to select from, particularly from the coaches, with Marcelo Bielsa a leading candidate, despite some of his more esteemed counterparts.
The Argentine led Leeds United to the Premier League in fine style as he swept aside all comers in the English Championship last season.
However, he wasn’t Ntseki’s first pick, instead it was Bayern Munich’s Hans-Dieter Flick, who scored the nod from Bafana’s coach.
Flick led a star-studded Bayern to the coveted UEFA Champions League title, emphatically sweeping aside Lionel Messi’s Barcelona 8-2 in the semifinal.
In the same vein, it was the man at center of Bayern’s potent attacks who received a vote from Ntseki for the FIFA Men’s best award. Ntseki joined the scores of coaches and players who voted for the Poland international.
Lewandowski’s mammoth 55 goals in Bayern’s treble campaign was enough to score the nod from the Bafana mentor.
