Baxter's Technical Team To Convene At SAFA

The Siya crew understands that Bafana Bafana head coach Stuart Baxter, along with his technical team, are scheduled to convene at SAFA House this coming Saturday to provide their in-depth report on Bafana's failure to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, to SAFA's technical committee.
The Crew reported previously that Baxter along with his assistant coaches was summoned by SAFA to provide a technical analysis of Bafana's unsuccessful World Cup qualification campaign. SAFA responded by stating that the meeting would be of a positive nature and would focus on building the national team as well as learning from the experiences of failing to qualify for the World Cup.
Now Siya sources at SAFA have revealed that Baxter will be required to provide an explanation on the players selected for the for both the Cape Verde matches and the progress of the overseas-based players at their respective clubs at the time of their selection. Sources have indicated that the technical committee along with the SAFA's CEO Dennis Mumble will also look into Thulani Serero's case and how best to deal with players who fail to honour their national call-ups after the Vitesse midfielder refused to be part of Baxter squad ahead of the qualifiers against Senegal.
SAFA reiterated that Baxter's position as head coach of the senior national team is not under threat despite Bafana's failure to secure a spot in Russia next year, as qualification was never the main mandate for the coach since he took over the reigns from Shakes Mashaba.
Meanwhile, Baxter is currently helping one of his assistant coaches Thabo Senong who is the head coach of the U20 Amajita side prepare for the 2017 edition of the COSAFA U20 Youth Championship which will take place in Zambia between December 6 and 16.
