Baxter & Bafana In Crunch Talks
Stuart Baxter's future with Bafana Bafana appears to be up in the air, with crunch talks being held with the head coach and the South African Football Association.
Baxter has been linked heavily with Kaizer Chiefs in recent days, but word reaching the Siya crew is that the Amakhosi are not the only ones interested in bringing the Englishman on board if he does become available.
The former SuperSport United boss still has a contract with SAFA as things stand, although the crew has been informed that talks have taken place between the association and him even though he is currently away in Sweden.
According to Siya sources, the relationship between the parties is on rocky ground at present as Baxter seemingly becomes more frustrated following the collapse of trips for Bafana to both Thailand and India, and SAFA themselves are known to have flirted with the possibility of trying to bring back Carlos Queiroz - something that is believed to have angered the Iranian FA - after the World Cup.
At this point in time it remains to be seen whether Baxter will leave Bafana, though it does seem like it could well be a possibility given the circumstances, and it is thought that Chiefs will be eager to jump highest if the option to bring him in becomes a reality.
The crew will continue to monitor the situation as it progresses, however it is thought that, given the ongoing discussions, there may be a resolution to the situation before the end of the week.
