The South Africa Football Association acting CEO, Russell Paul, has reiterated that Bafana Bafana’s bonus structure for their Africa Cup of Nations campaign remains the same as that of their female counterparts.
It was late last month that SAFA president Danny Jordaan revealed that Banyana Banyana, who are currently taking part in their first ever FIFA World Cup, would earn R320 000 each for making it past the group stages and that the amount would increase should they progress further.
Paul has today confirmed that the men’s national team will not earn a cent more as they prepare to face Ivory Coast, Namibia and Morocco later this month the continental showpiece in Egypt.
Here’s the bonus breakdown for Bafana at AFCON:
- R320 000 for reaching the last 16
- R520 000 for the quarter-finals
- R670 000 for the semi-finals
- R920 000 for winning the tournament
Bafana play their Group D opener against Ivory Coast on June 24.
