Baxter’s Johnson Favour As Bafana Prepare…

Stuart Baxter says he asked a favour of Cavin Johnson and AmaZulu as Bafana Bafana prepare to face Libya in an African Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday.
Baxter’s boys come up against the Libyans as they look to build on their opening win over Nigeria last year, but will be wary of a side that thumped Seychelles and currently sit on top of Group E.
The South African national team are currently preparing for the tie in Durban as Baxter looks to select his best XI, and he says that Usuthu being so accommodating has helped them as they look to give themselves options against The Mediterranean Knights.
Baxter told SAFA’s official website, “It was important that we had a little bit of a run out in terms of 11 v 11. We asked Cavin if he would play deep in one half so we had to pick our way through, and in the other half to have a go at us so we could use our mobility on transitions.
“It was useful, there was some disjointed stuff because they’re all new to each other, but there was some very good stuff as well. Now it’s up to us to build on that good stuff, and we thank Cavin and the boys for giving us the run out.”
The two teams played two 30 minute halves, with Bradley Grobler and Vincent Pule scoring to give Bafana a 2-0 victory.
