Bafana Bafana’s six-man foreign contingent will all be back to play for their clubs in France, Holland and Belgium this weekend after leaving Honduras on Wednesday like Shakes Mashaba.
While their South African-based international teammates will only leave San Pedro Sula tomorrow and arrive back in Mzansi on Saturday morning, Anele Ngcongca, Thulani Serero, Andile Jali, Kamohelo Mokotjo, Mandla Masango and Ayanda Patosi are already back in their respective countries.
The teams of all five players have games on Friday, Saturday or Sunday, with all of them no doubt hoping to play a role in their side’s encounters.
With flights to Europe from San Pedro Sula more direct and regular than those back to South Africa, Bafana’s European-based players didn’t find themselves in a situation that saw their teammates stuck in Honduras.
Meanwhile, the PSL was forced to postpone four Absa Premiership games this weekend after it was revealed that nine of the players would only arrive back in the country on the day of their game.
Luckily, Ngcongca, Serero, Jali, Mokotjo, Masango and Patosi didn’t have that problem.
