A whole host of Absa Premiership clubs have been handed a hefty blow this week, with the news that their Bafana Bafana internationals will only arrive back on Saturday morning.
According to Siya sources, Bafana will only leave Honduras, whom they played in the early hours of Wednesday morning, on Thursday, and will only arrive back in Mzansi on the weekend.
This is the second time that there have been issues with flights on this Cental American trip, with the team being sent back from the airport on the way there after a problem with visas for their American layover.
With four Absa Premiership games taking place on their day of arrival, Saturday, and two taking place on the Sunday, it seems unlikely that the returning players will be ready to feature for their clubs given the long flights and undoubted jet lag.
Kaizer Chiefs, SuperSport United, Bidvest Wits and Mpumalanga Black Aces, who are all playing on Saturday, will have ten players likely to miss their PSL games, while Mamelodi Sundowns and Ajax Cape Town, who play on Sunday, have three players returning.
Itumeleng Khune, Jackson Mabokgwane, Ronwen Williams, Muzi Mashaba, Erick Mathoho, Clayton Daniels, Rivaldo Coetzee, Musa Lebusa, Siya Nhlapo, Dean Furman, Bongani Zungu, Jabu Shongwe, George Lebese and Sibusiso Vilakazi are all meant to have matches this weekend.
It remains to be seen how this uncomfortable flight situation arose, or if any of the clubs will appeal to have their games delayed, however the head coaches of the teams will not be happy with the fact that their star players will be missing.
