Bafana Set To Jet Off To Zambia, Bucs Coach To Join?
Bafana Bafana prepare to jet off to Zambia for four-nation tournament Rulani Mokwena set to join?
The senior men’s national football team, Bafana Bafana will jet off to Zambia tomorrow to participate in a four-nation tournament scheduled to start on the 22nd of March.
A press briefing will be held ahead of Bafana’s departure in which head coach Stuart Baxter is expected to provide a last update on the squad. It is expected that Baxter will also confirm whether Orlando Pirates coach Rhulani Mokwena will be part of the travelling contingent following an invite to join the technical team as a way of empowering young coaches in the country.
The crew had reported that the Buccaneers still need to confirm whether the former Mamelodi Sundowns assistant coach would be allowed to join the Bafana squad although the Soweto giants said that they were happy for Mokwena following the invite.
While it remains compulsory for players to honour national call-ups during FIFA’s international calendars, the invite to Rhulani is an open one with the club having the deciding power.
Meanwhile, Baxter and his youthful side comprising of players such as Ryan Moon, Reeve Frosler, and Phakamani Mahlambi will hope to do well when they take on the likes of hosts, Zambia as well as Zimbabwe and Angola.
The tournament will run from 22 to 25 March, will Bafana scheduled to be back in the country on 26 March 2018.
