Your Bafana Player Ratings

Bafana Bafana began their 2015 African Cup of Nations campaign with a disappointing 3-1 loss to Africa's number one ranked side, Algeria. Following Senegal's 2-1 win over Ghana in the earlier clash, South Africa were determined to cause an upset against Christian Gourcuff's charges. Shakes Mashaba's men took the lead in the 51st minute through winger, Thuso Phala, but the Desert Foxes got themselves back in the game when a miscommmunication between centre back, Thulani Hlatshwayo and goalkeeper, Darren Keet, saw the Bafana full back head the ball into his own net.

Algeria began putting pressure on Bafana, and that soon paid off when they took the lead in the 71st minute, as Faouzi Ghoulam forced his way past Oupa Manyisa before unleashing a left footed shot at the near post, drilling the ball past Keet.

Islam Slimani sealed the win in the 82nd minute, as he slotted a powerful low shot under Keet, to clinch the game 3-1.

Soccer Laduma's team of journalists are currently in discussion over the player ratings.
