The SuperSport United striker, who has been in inspiring form for his club, received a welcomed return to the national team after being overlooked for Bafana’s previous camp, where coach Molefi opted to bring in younger faces for friendly matches against Namibia and Zambia.
Grobler becomes the latest player to withdraw from the Bafana squad after it was confirmed that Thibang Phete, Thulani Serero, Andile Jali, Reeve Frosler, Thamsanqa Mkhize and Abubakar Mobara would not feature for Ntseki’s Bafana team.
Speaking to the Siya crew SAFA Communications Officer Dominic Chimhavi confirmed that the 32-year-old would miss Friday’s match, but they are yet to confirm with doctors if he is available for the return fixture.
“It looks like they are saying he (Grobler) is out for this particular game, but he could be back for the second match. It is something that we still have to discuss with the doctors,” Chimhavi told the crew.
