Bafana Bafana have taken a minor step back towards the World’s Top 50 today as they moved up one place in the FIFA rankings to 55th place, and now occupy 15th spot in Africa.
Shakes Mashaba’s team dropped four places to 56th last month after their disappointing African Cup of Nations campaign, however have managed to claw back one of those spots as Korea Republic and Turkey dropped places.
Meanwhile, Spain have dropped out of the Top 10 for the first time since 2006, and Italy have managed to take their place as Germany continue to lead the pack.
Algeria (18th), Ivory Coast (20th) and Ghana (24th) remain Africa’s highest ranked teams in the world, while Rwanda and Mauritania were the continent’s biggest movers, leaping up eight places each to 64th and 118th in the World.
The World’s best mover was Barbados, who moved up 11 spots to 131st, while the worst mover was Lebanon, who dropped 25 places to 146th.
