Bafana Land In Senegal
Bafana Bafana have touched down in Senegal ahead of their final 2018 World Cup qualifier, with Stuart Baxter hoping to end on a win despite the disappointment of not reached the finals.
Baxter’s side were beaten 2-0 by the Lions of Teranga on Friday as their hopes of playing in Russia next year were slashed, and they will now be playing for nothing but pride in Dakar on Tuesday evening.
Senegal will be on a high having reached their first World Cup since back in 2002, while Bafana’s wait goes on as they turn their attentions to preparing for their African Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
While Baxter says that they do want to win the game on Tuesday night – at 21h30 SA time – he is expected to make changes from the XI that lost in Polokwane earlier this week.
In a press release, he said, “When one plays for the country, there is nothing like fulfilling the match. There is nothing like rubber matches. We are going to Tuesday’s game intent on winning it, and that is what we will go for.”
The team will train in Dakar later this evening as they finalise their preparations for the final encounter.
