After being out of the Bafana Bafana setup for a long time, Wayne Sandilands has reiterated about understanding the responsibility that comes with being part of the side, following his return to South Africa’s senior national team.
The Orlando Pirates goalkeeper was called up to Stuart Baxter’s latest Bafana squad alongside Reyaad Pieterse of SuperSport United. The two goalkeepers were called up as replacements for Itumeleng Khune and Darren Keet respectively.
Bafana will face Cape Verde in the first leg of their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers scheduled for Friday. Sandilands has been impressive between the sticks for The Buccaneers in the two games played by the team so far this season.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns shot-stopper posted a picture of himself and former Pirates’ number one goalkeeper, the late Senzo Meyiwa, in Bafana colours back in the day.
Remembering how high the bar has been set pushes one to understand the responsibility and necessity to never let that standard drop. pic.twitter.com/3xiUUYONp1— Wayne Sandilands (@Wsandilands40) August 30, 2017
