Bafana Bafana Captain Withdrawn From Squad, Cape Town City Captain Replaces
The South African Football Association has confirmed that Bafana Bafana captain, Thulani Hlatshwayo has been withdrawn from the national team squad, with a Cape Town City defender being called up as his replacement.
Bafana will host Burkina Faso at the FNB Stadium on Saturday, October 07, in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying encounter which is a must-win for Head Coach Stuart Baxter’s side.
It was confirmed yesterday that defender Erick Mathoho had to be withdrawn from the squad following a decision on his red card booking, with the association subsequently confirming that Mamelodi Sundowns’ Motjeka Madisha received a call-up to replace the towering defender.
Now, Bafana have once again been forced to withdraw their captain, Hlatshwayo due to injury, with City’s team captain, Robyn Johannes receiving a call-up to the national team squad.
