Recently Barcelona and Brazilian superstar Neymar Jnr revealed that his creative flair and the flamboyance style of play he shares with many of his Brazilians compatriots were his identity in playing the beautiful game and any sort of restriction on those elements would cripple him as a player.
Following Amajita’s successful Commonwealth Cup run caretaker coach David Notoane who was appointed coach in the absence of Thabo Senong who was with the senior National squad in Equatorial Guinea for the African Cup of Nations, has hailed the African style of play, attributing it as the key to the U20’s success in Russia.
Notoane further explained that the natural technical ability of African players which allows to them to be comfortable on the ball and express themselves gave his charges the edge over their European counter-parts.
“Technically, in this tournament, we were better than most of the teams we faced. Yes, tactically European teams are more disciplined, but we’ve come a long way,” explained Notoane.
“We express ourselves and my players enjoy having the ball at their feet. We cannot change this. We must not make the mistake of wanting to be like Europeans. We are Africans!” he added.
