Bafana Bafana call-ups in the Mamelodi Sundowns camp have all joined up with the squad ahead of the 2017 AFCON qualifiers, despite Pitso Mosimane’s plea to Shakes Mashaba.
Sundowns are currently running a busy schedule of competitive matches, having to play in two two-legged semi-finals.
Mosimane has pleaded to both the PSL and Mashaba to allow his players some leniency as they have to play more games than other teams in the PSL.
The MTN8 semi-finals will take place over the weekends of the 10 and 17 September, and between the two legs, an Absa Premiership encounter between Sundowns and Maritzburg United is scheduled, on 14 September.
Mosimane is desperate to have the PSL assist the club by postponing the fixture against Platinum Stars, on 21 September, as to prepare fully for the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League.
"So maybe the league will help us, it's for the nation, to remove the game in between the Champions League," Mosimane said after the MTN8 match.
"If Bra Shakes was lenient to us, he must understand. When I was Bafana coach, I never selected any Pirates players when they played in the semi-final and Mauritania is a dead-rubber, let’s be honest. That's what I did, and Gordon (Igesund) did it as well. So I hope Bra Shakes will understand," he added.
However, despite Mosimane’s plea, all Mashaba’s call-ups from Masandawana have made their way to camp ahead of the country’s qualifying fixture against Mauritania on Friday, 2 September.
The players in camp are Keagan Dolly, Hlompho Kekana, Tebogo Langerman, Thapelo Morena and Sibusiso Vilakazi.
