Hello, football fanatics
On the sad passing of Jeff Butler
It was very sad to learn of Jeff Butler’s passing. He is by far Kaizer Chiefs’ most successful coach. He was very good with players and he was not afraid to throw youngsters into the deep end. He did well for the team and I would like to thank him for everything he has done for the Glamour Boys and the rest of the country. We sympathise with his loved ones and we hope they find strength during this difficult time. These things happen and God can call anyone at any time. May his soul rest in peace.
On Kaizer Chiefs’ season thus far
Eish, I feel sorry for Steve Komphela because I know he is really trying his best. He recently got knocked out of the Nedbank Cup and I know he is stressing about it wherever he is. He is having sleepless nights. I want to say to him, ‘Coach, we are behind you all the way. Keep pushing and you’ll see things will work out in the end. I know you wanted to go to the final and win it for us, but all is not lost.’ Our season has been and still is good because, before losing this one, we had gone 14 games without a loss. We are number two on the log table. We can still win the league.
On the national U20 preliminary squad
The boys that are there must not think about making the squad to the World Cup but must just give their all. They must just work extra hard. They must know that they are good players because being selected to this squad shows that they are good. To fellow supporters, let us all rally behind the boys in their quest to take on the world’s best. These boys are our future. They are the ones that are going to take us to the next level. I wish the boys everything of the best!
On the favourites to win the league title
It’s a difficult call to make. I would say all the teams from position one to position five can still win it. I would love to say my team, Kaizer Chiefs will win it, but, like I said, one can never tell at this stage. Good luck to all the teams.
Till we talk again
