It Is Uncalled For!
This week, we hear from Soccer Laduma Supporters Club Committee Member Mama Fefe Sonti on Leonardo Castro's move from Mamelodi Sundowns to Kaizer Chiefs, as well as her parting message for the 2017 year.
On Leonardo Castro moving from Sundowns to Chiefs
Kaizer Chiefs supporters are very happy about Castro joining Chiefs. He’s definitely the type of striker that the team needed, a box striker. Yes, they do have good running strikers, the likes of Gustavo Paez, Dumisani Zuma and Bernard Parker. They are all good mobile strikers, but the team needed someone like Castro who stays in the box. I hope the coach will give him a chance to prove his worth in the Amakhosi colours. I wish the coach can change the system he is using now to accommodate Castro. We all know what he can do when given a chance. I also hope that our midfielders will be more creative and give him the necessary supply he will need. Chiefs need to sign another striker during the transfer window period and stop signing defenders all the time. What is it that they are defending with so many defenders?
On what the fans expect to see in the Jan transfer window
We are looking forward to the transfer window. We want to see a competitive window period this time around. We want to see big-name players moving from one club to another because that is exactly what makes it exciting for us. We hope that Castro to Chiefs is the first of many to happen this window!
On supporters’ behaviour
I wish fans could stop what they are doing… this thing of ‘so-and-so must go’. At the end of the day, it is the management who hires all the technical staff. Our job as supporters is to support our teams even more during trying times. Football only has three results: win, draw and loss, and it is very important for supporters to know that. Booing your own team’s coach and players is totally out of order. It is uncalled for!
Let me take this opportunity to thank AVBOB, our sponsors, who have been supporting us throughout the course of the year. They have contributed immensely to the growth of Supporters Club and we are grateful to them for that. Thanks to Soccer Laduma also for opening this wonderful platform for the supporters. It really means a lot to supporters out there to have their voice. Lastly, I want to thank the supporters for the feedback and messages of encouragement we always receive from you. May you all have a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
