We Haven’t Reached The Finish Line

By Soccer Laduma - Dec 14, 2017 02:59 PM
This week, we hear from Soccer Laduma Supporters Club Committee Member Masilo Machaka as he speaks about the standard of the PSL and he sends his parting wishes for the year.
Good day, football lovers
On what he thinks about the standard of the PSL
Every football game that doesn’t have goals is deemed a boring game and it has been the case with the PSL this season, hence a lot of football lovers declare it a boring league. We must understand that for a football game to be interesting, it needs goals. With the recent goalless draws, people then started to believe that the league is overhyped. The sooner our teams start scoring goals on a regular basis, the sooner people will start believing in the supposed high standard of the PSL.
On the upcoming January transfer window
This upcoming January transfer window couldn’t have come at a better time than now. The PSL needs a boost and the window might just bring us that. I remember when ‘Donadoni’ (Teko Modise) left Orlando Pirates to join Mamelodi Sundowns, everybody had written him off at the time. What did he do? He went to Sundowns and became their Lionel Messi. He proved every critic wrong by dishing out marvellous displays and won trophies with Sundowns. All that shows is that sometimes players need a change of environment for them to perform to the best of their ability. This upcoming window might just be the last piece of the puzzle to make the PSL as exciting as ever. I hope it really does, for the sake of the custodians of the beautiful game, the supporters.
On the upcoming December break
It will be a welcome break to the players because they’ve been playing a lot of football, especially those who also represent their countries and those who were involved in the continental competitions like the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup.
Word of thanks to our sponsor, AVBOB
To our pillar of strength, our sponsor, AVBOB, on behalf of all Supporters Club members, I would like to say thank you a million times for your unwavering support. If it wasn’t for you, we would not have gone the miles we have travelled this year. Once again, thank you AVBOB for looking out for the custodians of the beautiful game, the supporters. This is one brand that really follows its slogan. As their slogan says, “We’re here for you.” They really are here for us the supporters!
Parting message
I would like to wish every football supporter a very happy festive season. To each and every one of them, I want to say Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year. They must all remember that we haven’t reached the finish line yet, so they must all come back in one piece in January. Please do not drink and drive. Do not drink and walk either.
