Let It Be Every Supporter’s Responsibility

On the transfer window
Well, I think it’s too early to tell how the current transfer window has been exactly. Remember it slams shut right at the end of August and we are still in mid-July. So far so good, though, because already we’ve seen the likes of Daylon Claasen and Steven Pienaar signing for league champions Bidvest Wits. But we haven’t got to that exciting part of it where the Big Three are making the headlines. The supporters want to see that.
On the supporters’ behavior at the stadiums
The behavior at the stadiums was a bit disappointing last season, with some supporters even ending up in hospital. That is something that we must all leave behind us. Going forward, let it be every supporter’s responsibility to make sure that we are all safe at the stadiums. It is where we take our families out, so it must be a safe environment. I appeal to everyone who goes to the stadium to know that it is his or her responsibility to make sure that those around him or her are safe. We have a long way to go in making sure that it is not just something we say, but rather it is something that is happening. The 2017/18 season has to be one that sees change in the behaviour of some of our supporters. Football is called the Beautiful Game because it is indeed a beautiful game, not a war zone.
On the Maize Cup
I was fortunate enough to have travelled to this year’s Maize Cup. The atmosphere at the stadium was vibrant. It was a very nice experience and even though they are not 100 percent fit yet, the players didn’t disappoint with the brand of football they displayed on the day.
On Bafana Bafana’s Chan qualifier
The boys did well to beat Botswana away from home. I think that game is over as a contest if you look at how well our boys have been performing. I think we are superior to them. The good thing about this Chan is that we have a young team there that is performing very well. Take the young Ryan Moon for example… he is growing and gaining experience. He is maturing. Look at how calm he was when he scored that goal.
On Supporters Club Vision 2017
We are almost there with Vision 2017. Look at the turnout in the recent Maize Cup. Unbelievable! This is what we are striving for – support for all our teams. Let us continue like this and, in no time, we will not be complaining about the sizes of the stadiums.
