On Bafana Bafana’s victory in Nigeria
Congratulations to our boys, Bafana Bafana, and ‘Mr Magic’, Stuart Baxter. I call him Mr Magic because that’s his speciality – performing magic. It has been difficult for Bafana to win games lately, but Mr Magic came to the fore and changed all of that. Beating Nigeria 2-0 in their own backyard is not child’s play and I hope that SAFA will treat him with respect this time around and give him all the necessary support he will require. Back to the game… I think we should have scored way more than two goals, but we cannot fault the boys, as they gave their all. What’s more encouraging though from the squad is that there’s a nice blend of youth and experience and that simply means that our coach is also preparing us for the future. This is the way to go, Mr Magic. We say bravo to you!
On Supporters Club’s Vision 2017
Supporters Club’s vision for this calendar year (2017) is to fill up the stadiums when our respective teams play. We are halfway through the year and I’m happy to say that our vision is well on course and, by the look of things, it will be a Mission Accomplished when we close the curtain on the year 2017. Yes, there’s room for improvement, but we are not behind at all.
On poor officiating in the PSL
These dubious decisions by our referees are killing our teams. Look at what happened in the game between Black Leopards and Baroka FC! I’m not taking anything away from Baroka, they fought very hard and played well. But I battle to understand how Khulasande Qongqo missed the foul on the Leopards keeper that ended his afternoon. The keeper had the ball when the Baroka striker knocked him with a knee in the forehead. He then lost the ball because he was unconscious… then a goal was scored from that. Qongqo was right there in the thick of things and he gave the goal to Baroka instead of a free kick to Leopards. This is killing our football. Leopards fought very hard to get to where they are for them to be hard done by the referee like that. It’s high time the PSL takes some serious action to improve referees. They are getting paid to do a job, not to kill our football.
‘Till we talk again
