Reflecting On A Season That Was…

Fefe Sonti and Dejan Miladinovic– SLSC Committee Members

On Bidvest Wits winning the league

Let me start by congratulating Wits for winning the league title. They wanted it the most and they had the hunger for it. It must serve as a lesson to the so-called big teams that if you’re passionate about what you want, you’re bound to get it. Their coach, Gavin Hunt, knows how to win the league and his experience was vital for them this season. The man thrives under pressure. He knows that you have to collect points from as early as the first game.

On the Nedbank Cup final

The Nedbank Cup is my favourite cup competition of all because we get to see what the underprivileged teams are capable of and what they can do if they can get the support and sponsors. I would like Orlando Pirates to win this one. It has to go to Soweto. It’s not a good thing to always come second to Pretoria teams, so for this one, it’s ‘Up the Bucs’.

On supporter behaviour

Let me thank the supporters for going to games in numbers this season. We can still do better, but we are slowly but surely getting there. On a sad note though, it was not good to see supporters brutally attacking other supporters. This is a beautiful game and if your emotions get the better of you, then help us all by staying at home and watch it on TV. What those hooligans did to the Mamelodi Sundowns supporter is not good. I cannot refer to them as Pirates supporters because Pirates supporters accepted the defeat and moved on. Those were just hooligans and they must know that they have no place in our football. To all football supporters across the country, let us enjoy the break and come back with a bang next season!

Till we talk again

On Bidvest Wits winning the title

It’s so good that Wits have won the title. It just shows how competitive the PSL is and that names don’t play, but the performance on the field of play does.

On the Nedbank Cup final

This is a repeat of last season’s final and I believe that Pirates will take this one.

On Supporters Club and its vision

The season that’s about to come to an end was a good one for Supporters Club and we are calling on everyone to come and join us. We are a moving train and we are going places!
