On what happened at Orlando Stadium
Anywhere in the world, whenever something like that happens, the football world goes crazy! The incident tainted the image of the country. The outside world will now see us as a violent country, which is not true. It is a few individuals who are behind this and those people must be dealt with. An example has to be made of them. It doesn't help if we just talk about it. Something needs to be done or we will always find ourselves having to clean up after them. The late Tata Nelson Mandela once said that sport is another way we can use to unite this country. If you remember, in the build-up to the World Cup in 2010, we were urged to wear our gear every Friday and that worked. I strongly suggest that we do the same thing, but this time we wear our teams' gear. It will help us get familiar with one another and the different teams we support. Perpetrators must face the law.
On the Nedbank Cup
For any cup competition, the semi-finals are always very tough. Orlando Pirates are struggling at the moment, but I think they will win this one (against Golden Arrows). They are in a better position to win it if you look at the way both teams have been performing lately. I see Bucs progressing to the final. SuperSport United will also beat Chippa United because the Chilli Boys are struggling. So I think it's going be a repeat of last season’s final – Matsatsantsa a Pitori versus the Buccaneers. I see SuperSport defending it successfully!
On who's going to win the league
Well, we all know that the race now is between two teams, Bidvest Wits and Mamelodi Sundowns. We only have two games to go before we know the champions. Looking at both contenders and the two games that they still have to play, I think Wits has the upper hand if one considers the fact that they lead Sundowns by two points. That simply means that Sundowns will have to win their remaining games and hope that Wits drops points. So my prediction is that Wits will win the league this season. Wits will be our new champions!
