Gyan Fires Ghana To Victory

Africa Cup of Nations - Group C
Result: Ghana 1-0 Algeria
Date: 23 January 2015
Venue: Estadio de Mongomo
Asamoah Gyan scored in stoppage time to earn Ghana a 1-0 win over Algeria in their second Afcon Group C clash.
The first half proved to be a sluggish affair lacked urgency from both sides, despite Ghana desperately needing a win.
The best chance of the half fell to Algeria's Nabil Bentaleb in the 20th minute , as the midfielder skewed an effort wide of the mark from inside the area.
The rest of the first half saw both sides commit numerous fouls, which resulted in a few heated altercations.
Asamoah Gyan came close to giving the Black Stars the lead five minutes after the halftime break but he failed to steer his header on target from six-yards out.
Bentaleb went close for the Algerians again in the 64th minute, flashing a low effort just wide of the upright.
Both sides struggled to produce efforts on target in the closing stages, however, the Black Stars' talisman, Gyan, showed great strength and power before firing a low effort into the far corner.
Ghana have now moved level on points with Algeria and Senegal.
Here's how they lined up:
Ghana: Brimah, Afful, Rahman, Amartey, Mensah, Acquah, A. Ayew, Badu, Atsu, Gyan, J. Ayew
