Algeria secured their spot in the knockout stages of the Africa Cup of Nations with a 2-0 win over Senegal on Tuesday.
Group C was wide open heading into the last round of group games but when the dust settled it was Algeria and Ghana who came out on top, while Senegal and South Africa were eliminated.
Algeria had a great chance in the first couple of minutes. A poor touch from Djilobodji allowed Soudani to gain possession and send the ball on for Feghouli. The Valencia man ran at Coundoul in goal, but with just the keeper to beat he lost control of the ball, gifting it back to the gloveman.
However, the Greens didn't have to wait long for their opening strike as they went in front in the 11th minute. A long free kick from Bougherra was pounced on by Riyad Mahrez who swept a shot beneath the keeper after beating the offside trap.
Senegal gave Algeria a scare just past the half-hour mark. Djilobodji stepped up to take a 30-yard free kick and smashed it at goal with a low trajectory. It squeezed through the wall and made M'Bohli scramble, but went just wide.
The all-important second goal arrived for the Desert Warriors in the 82nd minute. Feghouli crossed for Bentaleb who had space to rifle home his strike from 20 yards to secure the three points and Algeria's progress into the knockout phases of the tournament.
Cameroon's Afcon game against Ivory Coast will be televised live on SuperSport 4 on 28 January at 20h00.
